Tsunami buoy

A tsunami is called a "shallow water wave" and its wavelength can reach hundreds of kilometers, which is much larger than the water depth. In the deep water area, the existence of the "bottom" can be felt, and it is an ideal low-pass filter. Tsunamis, tides and other long-period fluctuations are monitored by simply measuring pressure at a fixed point on the ocean floor. Once a tsunami occurs, the tsunami buoy can be triggered automatically or by manual instruction (satellite transmission) for high-density sampling and data transmission. The system includes a seabed-based pressure gauge (with acoustic release and battery unit), surface mooring system (mainly used for hydroacoustic communication and satellite data transmission). The real-time water level data in the early warning responsibility area will be integrated into the tsunami buoy system, which can provide functions and management similar to tide level stations.
